Susan spends many hours working on each of her detailed and layered works, whether a pastel painting or her striking torn-paper collage – like her piece "Steady, Steady" first-prize winner in the 2014 Meeker Sheepdog Classic art contest. The image centers on a very intense border collie watching a line-up of nervous sheep.
The Meeker Classic’s art honor is furthered with "Steady, Steady" highlighted on this year’s poster for the Meeker Classic sheepdog trials to be held Sept. 9 – 12, 2015, in Rio Blanco County, Colorado.
Grinels’ original artwork is intricately designed of hundreds of tiny pieces of torn colored paper on an 18-by-24 inch wood panel. Art and dogs are two of her passions, as seen by her awards in previous Meeker Classic art events, The Art Show at the Dog Show as well as local, regional and international awards for her torn-paper collages, pastel paintings and other creative art forms.
